It’s going to get busy real soon. The city’s public schools open for students on September 6. We’ll be back at work on Tuesday with fresh reporting and commentaries. And we’ll be live-blogging the first day of classes, when Chancellor Dennis M. Walcott tours schools throughout the city.

We wish everyone a restful long Labor Day weekend. But we also encourage you keep commenting, and to send ideas and tips to schoolbook@wnyc.org.
