The lines were long to get into the high school fair at Brooklyn Technical High School this weekend, but the hopes were high. Students talked about their interests, while parents lamented the passing of the years.

Students at Public School 188 in Manhattan had a chance to talk with Schools Chancellor Dennis M. Walcott, who paid a visit to stress the importance of reading.

As labor union representatives continue to negotiate with the Department of Education over the possible layoffs of nearly 800 school aides and other workers, several dozen aides and their supporters rallied today in front of several schools.

Before protesters could make their way home from City Hall this morning, the City Council announced it will hold hearings on a bill to demand that the Department of Education notify parents of any PCB contamination found during inspection of public schools.
