We got a great note from Laura Peynado, the principal at University Neighborhood Middle School. Thanks for sharing!

On Tuesday, November 6th, the UNMS staff used the Chancellor's Development Day to assist with clean-up in the New Dorp area of Staten Island. We were met by the scenes of need, and destruction brought on by Hurricane Sandy, and motivated by the resilience of the residents of New Dorp. They were happy to see us and we were privileged to help. We consider the day our school motto "in action": Together We Make the Difference! Take a look at some images from the day, including a final special message from the residents to the rest of us: http://unmsrocks-ofjag.poster...

We will keep you posted as our community continues to respond to the needs of fellow New Yorkers affected by Sandy. With gratitude on behalf of the UNMS Community,

Laura

Hi,

I am a graphic and web designer in the New York area. I have been living on Staten Island with family to help out and seeing all the damage that has been done to the area is sad. I would love to get involved somehow in the relief efforts. I am paired up with a mentor through my design group AIGA and we are trying to come up with some solutions. If anyone has a need for marketing materials, new website, or even just creating awareness...or if you have any other ideas where my skills would be appreciated let me know. I love to do social cause work and hope someone out there would have a need for this. Please contact me if interested! Thanks :) Mzipprich@gmail.com
