DOE Seeks to Phase Out 17 Schools in First Wave of Proposed Closures
The first list is out for this year's proposed school closings. It includes six schools in Brooklyn, five in the Bronx, four in Manhattan and two in Queens. City Reports More Suspensions, but Serious Crimes Declined
New figures on crime and suspensions in the city's schools show suspensions are up while serious episodes have declined. They also show that most suspensions, 87 percent, were given to black and Hispanic students. A third of all suspensions were given to special education students. Read More »
