DOE Seeks to Phase Out 17 Schools in First Wave of Proposed Closures

The first list is out for this year's proposed school closings. It includes six schools in Brooklyn, five in the Bronx, four in Manhattan and two in Queens. 21 High Schools Identified as 'Struggling'

After the release of high school progress reports last week, city Education Department officials identified 21 struggling high schools that, because of their low performance, could be closed or subject to other interventions beginning next year.
